Our 3 AM Antics

How is it possible that a little brown dog has such energy at 3:00 in the morning? Coco woke me up with her usual morning whine (just faint enough not to wake Daddy) so that I would take her outside.  On our way downstairs, she bounded down with such intensity I thought she was going to hurt herself.  Once outside she took off chasing some varmint into the woods and came back to me with her fur standing on end, and, if possible, even more energy than before.

Why is it that even after a day filled with games (including Where's Your Treats and Find Mommy), endless hours of fetch and tug-of-war, countless walks, antler chewing, playing with sissy, chasing the turtle that crept onto the porch (maybe "chasing" isn't the right word), wrestling with Daddy and whatever else she got into while we were away-isn't enough to make her sleep through the night? This was my train of thought as we got a drink (she took a big gulp from her bowl and sloshed water all over the kitchen) and headed back upstairs.

When we got back into the bedroom, Coco started to sprint back and forth.  This lasted  nearly 2 minutes.  I timed it. Where did she get all this energy from?  At 3 in the morning! I wonder if I'm the only dog mom experiencing this.  I'm certain I'm not alone; if only we could harness the middle of the night energy, we could use some for ourselves in the morning.  We're going to need it.

Note: there is no picture to accompany this post...I refuse to take pictures of her at 3 in the morning.

Tummy Ache

My poor Coco has been getting tummy aches recently. She is waking me up in the wee hours of the night with her tummy a-grumbling and her poor little sad whine.  I'm not sure what is causing the distress, but she is losing her appetite.  Of course this is just momentarily. It just takes a little coxing and just is scarfing her food.  It has happened 3 times so far.  If it happens again, I'm afraid it will have to be a trip to the vet.  My poor little baby.
