Check Out This Cake!

Friday was daddy's birthday, so I made him his favorite dessert, Boston Cream Pie.  I found the easiest recipe on The Girl Who Ate Everything's blog.  You must check it out! This is the first thing that I've ever baked that turned out like the picture-well really close to the picture, anyway.

Of course I had help.  Coco was there every step of the way to make sure her daddy's birthday dessert was up to par.

I can always count on Coco for moral support.  And a little drool.  The Boston Cream Pie was so good, but much to Coco's dismay, she didn't get to try any.  Daddy had a good birthday, and I get to eat some of the leftovers!

My Favorite Faces of Coco

Sometimes I forget how much I love this little brown face! How is it possible that one face can bring us so much joy?

Mommy and Daddy Enjoy Vacation; Coco and Madam Enjoy Grandma Lucy's Pumpkin Treats

Last week mommy and daddy went on vacation, and Coco got to stay with cousin Madam Star and her mummy.
on vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN

While we were gone, Coco got a package from Chewy.com; she was nice enough to share the contents with her cousin. Inside was a bag of Grandma Lucy's Pumpkin Treats. They both loved these organic, baked pumpkin treats. Coco of course doesn't care that they are made with organic, human grade ingredients, but she does love the pumpkin flavor!  They are a little sweet, so I'm only giving them to her as a very special treat, which makes her love them even more.  The treats are shaped like cute little bears and after reading the ingredient list, I couldn't help but taste one myself (actually pretty good).

even sissy was trying to get some! look how big the bag is!

Coco, Madam Star, and I all highly recommend Grandma Lucy's Pumpkin treats.  And they are on sale right now at chewy.com!

The Versatile Blogger Award: A Major Award

OK, so my award didn't arrive in a giant wooden box, and it doesn't glow electric in my window at night, but I'm just as proud of it as Ralphie's father from A Christmas Story.  The Versatile Blogger Award really is a major award and thanks to Yoda's mama from Yoda the Pit Bull for nominating me!  If you don't frequent Yoda's blog, you should because Yoda couldn't be any cuter!  And Roberta's style is refreshing.  You will want to check them out, for sure.  And look what they gave me:

Isn't she a beaut? Here are the rules for accepting the award:
Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
List 7 things about yourself.
Nominate 15 blogs for the Versatile Blogger Award.

Here we go.  7 things about Brandi...

1.  I studied creative writing in college.  It didn't prepare me to write a blog about dogs.
2.  I love Westerns, but not Spaghetti Westerns.  I hate those.
3.  I like routine.  The more routine, the better.
4.  I didn't originally want to get a dog, but am thankful every day that Bill talked me into it!
5.  I never wear any make up.  Ever.
6.  My favorite season is summer because it is so hot.  Florida days never get too hot for me!
7.  I hate winter.  70 degrees is too cold for me.  I am miserable at 65.  Miserable.

Now the 15 blogs I am nominating for the major award.  These are blogs that I follow regularly because I think they are entertaining, informative, and just plain great.
